It’s a cliché how many times the people have made reference to “change”. Change is good. Change is inevitable. Change is the only constant. The only certainty is change. Blah blah blah. And so the list of things can go on and on until we die of boredom. But truth be told, it’s true. All these things we know and heard about change is true, and in the motoring world change is something no one can escape from. Not even Jaguar Land Rover.

Since being “freed” from Ford and placed under the control of Tata, Jaguar Land Rover really went from strength to strength. Thanks to the near endless supply of Tata money, the product line-up from these two brands have gone from bland to utterly gorgeous. From somewhat lifeless cars to energetic machines gracing our roads.

Now, the change that washed over Jaguar Land Rover is felt on ground level, too. All over the country dealerships are undergoing change. Change that’s about converting Jaguar dealerships and Land Rover dealerships into Jaguar Land Rover dealerships. Dealerships where both brands will be sold alongside one another. And low and behold, I was lucky enough to witness one such dealership in the process of being converted.

The Land Rover dealership in Stellenbosch closed its doors earlier this year and a big sign was hung outside: “We are changing and we promise this dealership will be bigger and better than before.” Or something like that. Point being, something is happening and we will be in for a treat.

For months I drove past the dealership in Stellenbosch and every day I saw the change that was taking place. Men hard at work upgrading the dealership. Land Rovers parked on a piece of land not far from the showroom. It all looked rather exciting. Not the dust and sand the staff had to endure, but the progress being made and seeing the new dealership taking shape.

But it all really hit me a week or two ago when, on my way home, I drove past (now former) Land Rover Stellenbosch and saw a Jaguar F-Type standing outside the dealership. It struck me that the change they were working is finally coming to fruition. The work done by Jaguar Land Rover is all coming together in what will, undoubtedly, be a pretty fine final product.

Prior to seeing the F-Type I saw the new Land Rover Discovery Sport pulling up at the dealership. And it made me excited. Excited because this is the dawn of a new era. A new beginning for Jaguar Land Rover Stellenbosch. This is a new day. And I realised that soon more cars will be on their way; like the Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XF, and in a few months the brand new Jaguar XE. And on the Land Rover front, the new Discovery Sport is already here, and so is the bonkers Range Rover Sport SVR.

Exciting times are up ahead for Jaguar Land Rover Stellenbosch and once the covers come off of the new dealership, it will be like a breath of fresh air. And so the countdown to the launch begins…
